ART|JOG|13

One very hot day whilst wandering the alleys down by the river in Yogya...I was following the street art and taking photos...and eventually stumbled across (well, I had read about it but it had totally gone out of my mind....there is soooo much to see and do in Yogya!) the ART|JOG|13 - Art Jogja (previously Jogja Art Fair) 2013 - Maritime Culture - Budaya Maritim exhibition at the Taman Budaya Yogyakarta.

WOW... I walked through the gates of Taman Budaya to see a huge wall of oil barrels that had been cut in half and opened out and shaped into sheet metal to create and resemble a vessel's wall that covered the whole of the front entrance of Taman Budaya. But that's not all...there was also a big silver whale tail coming out of the ground and right in front of the entrance door stood a large carousel that had a moving puppet show inside it - Iwan Affendi's "Papermoon Puppet Theatre" Asyikkkk bangettttt!

*Visuals are going to be needed here...these amazing art works need to be solely appreciated for what they are without my ramblings!!! This is a small selection of some of the art artworks that were in the exhibition! ;)

All I can say is....Yogya memang istimewa! (Yogya is indeed special!)

T-KA_T-KI (Trinodal Group) - 'The Vision is Gone...You Can Now Open Your Eyes'
(*I absolutely loved this artwork installation - I have so many photos of these little guys in the bathtubs! And I'm still disappointed that I didn't take a video recording of the film/media display on the wall at the back of this artwork.)

*'Tripang of Pasir Island' was my favourite art installation - I have started doing further research on Pasir Island and the stories and history behind this installation. It is a story that needs to be told. I have already made a 'Note to self' to write an individual blog post on Pasir Island. Stay tuned for that! ;)

*Love this artwork and these nails!
